The local gun shop has WASR-10's in stock for $359 with two 30 round clips. I was going to buy an SAR1 but what's the difference? I've been told it's just the capacity but if they're coming with 30 round clips, they're hi-cap, right? I was told they'd been modified for hi-cap by the store owner.

What's the difference between the WASR-10 hi-cap and SAR1?

The SARs were imported w/ the ablity to take hicaps. They have dimples in the side to hold the magazine steady. The WASRs were imported without the ablity to take highcaps. The mag well was cut out to accept hicaps. They are similar, but the WASRs may have more trouble fitting drums or some magazines, or the magazine may wobble more.

If its cut right it won't have any problem with the magzines, most i'd pay for a ak clone is about 320. As for ak mags, there is only single stack and double stack magazines, all double stack mags will work in double stack aks. wobble shouldn't effect anything but having a noisy ak

Most WASR-10's (including mine) have a pair of burrs at the rear of the magazine well where Century was sloppy expanding it. I had problems with some magazines, but 5 minutes with a dremel and the problems are history.

I have had issues getting Polish plastic mags to fit in a WASR-10 HC and I know for at least one 75rd drum my friend had to use a dremmel on the WASR-10 HC to get it fit. Had no issues with the "ribbed" AK mags.
