What kind of ranges and shooting clubs are available in the Sarasota, FL area?

I can't remember the name...but there is an archery and shooting club East of town (and East of I75)...off of Bee Ridge I think. I'm sure that any gunshop in Sarasota could get you there.

Ranges

There is an indoor range called Take Aim in northern Sarasota, A membership range (open to the public) in southern Manatee county on sr 64 ( has a 600 yd. range, archery skeet and runs matches), and the public range at Knights Trail (run by the county) in Nakomis, it also has skeet and archery.

There is also an archery range off of 17th st.

Must have been awhile ago, the only thing east of I75 on Bee Ridge now is developments, they even built multi $100K homes on top of the old dump area (from circa late 1980's, you know, the one north of Bee Ridge, not the newer one east of the exension that was closed down recently).

Drat - A friend of mine is/ was a member as recently as ...maybe two years ago.
I could be mistaken on the location though. I've never been there...was just told about it.

Knights Trail County range is my "home" range. Open every day, but Monday. Cheap.

Laurel Rd. exit off I-75, go East.
I don't recall seeing any archery or skeet ranges there, but then I can't see much other than the target thru my El Cheapo Mucho red dot on my Saiga.

There used to be a Pistol Range that was preaty good right outside of Palmeto on the way across the Skyway . I haven't been down that way in 9 years though.

For the one in Palmetto, take 301 across the bridge, turn right on Haber (at the Manatee Civic Center). When you get to the stop light, go straight across.... there's a Bodywerks gym there & the range is behind it.

I shoot at Take Aim, & a few times at Knights Trail. They have a full shotgun setup at Knights Trail - just keep going past the Pistol range on the main (only) road in the park & you'll get there. Must join their club to shoot shotgun.

This maybe too far to travel but it's a very nice outdoor range. It's east of you on the east coast in Sebastian. The name is Indian River County Public Shooting Range (32958). Telephone 516-581-4944. It has strange hours and days of operation. You might want to call ahead.
