Savage “match rifle” finally done!

I had always wanted to turn it into a competition gun and finally finished it. It’s wearing a EGW 20MOA rail, Boyd’s pro varmint stock and Blackhawk bipod. I picked up some SK standard plus, SK long range match and Norma Tac. The stock was a little goofy to get used to but after an hour on the range with it I like it a lot. It’s very steady. I tried shooting at 100yards using my home made shoot n c board with the Long range match and was pretty impressed with it. It did take 2 foul shots to get used to it and then tightened up.

I tried mini mags at 100yards and it did not like the 36gr mini mags at 100yards. This is the group in the black to the right. Center of the target, picture #2, 50yards with the mini mags was minute of woodchuck so I can deal with it.

SK Standard plus was shot at 50yards at the diamonds in the 2nd picture.

Norma Tac was shot at 50yards in the 1st picture. The fliers around the center group was more mini mags at 100 trying to zero it.

I lawld at that.... I did that with an archery target one time to mess with a friend of mine.

Took a video of me lobbing one arrow into it at 100 yd, then shot the other 4 at 10 yd right on top of the other arrow.......
Course, I forgot to tell him that I wasn't serious, and I guess he had been telling other people the story, because I had to explain it at a get together some time later.

I’ve got one that tops that. Public range of either 100 or 200yards. My buddy is trying to shoot a shoot n see about 12-16” with a mosin nagant, sks and AK using its iron sights. I think he hit it maybe 2x out of say 20. I began shooting his target at the same time he would shoot and he starts bragging to his wife and another buddy how good he can shoot irons. I did this 2-3x until he busted me and was soo mad. He told me to stop and 5min later I did it again. He jumped up and cursed me out all while I’m dying laughing. He says you think that sh… funny and grabs either the AK or SKS and proceeded to mag dump on my big shoot and see and never even hit it. I literally fell off the bench laughing at him. He called me every bad name there is for the next hour. Btw we were the only ones there and even the RSO thought it was funny cause he knew us.

His wife was sitting on the bench laughing and he thought she was laughing at him. He’s a good dude but he’d bet you $50 he could hit a baseball at 500yards with an iron sight mosin. I did feel bad as I bet his ego showing off for her was hurt a bit. He did get me back and almost killed us in the meantime. On the drive home, he decided to swerve, grab me and scream as I was passed out in the passenger seat from the 2hr ride home. He used to be very overweight and laughing hard would make him black out to the point he would pass out. Well when he scared me and began laughing he started going off the road. His wife yelled grab the wheel he passed out. Auto 4x4 kicked in and we rode the grass median for probably 100yards with me holding the wheel before he came to and we stopped. I finished driving home after that.

Worked with a guy once, said he was an ex-marine, and could hit a man sized target at 1000 yards at a dead run.....hahahaha...show me....hahahaha

There is almost as much “Big Fish” telling stories in shooting as….well, FISHING! On another forum, just in the past few days was a guy who said shooting 1 mile is NOT that difficult. Not That Difficult?? He continued on saying HE shoots at 2000yds, and his group size is 15” at that range.. Less than 1moa at 2K yards.. like he did this every Saturday or something, LOL! Funny thing is, can’t find a SINGLE video of someone shooting at 1 mile with consistency. Anyone on a forum claiming it… show me the video or it’s just talk.

A mile IS easy! Keep the barrel pointed in the right direction and almost any rifle will shoot a mile! Oh, wait, you mean I gotta HIT something that far away?

The one time I intentionally shot that far my three shot group was 6'
