For the longest time i've had my heart set on a model 700 varmint, or possibly a tactical. but, a month or so ago i bought a savage 93 in 17 hmr with the accu trigger and bull barrel, it is a one hole shooter and i would expect the model 10 to be similiar. how does the remington x mark trigger compare to the accutrigger? which would you go with?

the xmark doesnt compare to it at all. ive had a couple savages with the accu trigger, they were awesome. my remington xmark pro is tough compared to it. youd have to buy a timney or other aftermarket to try and compete.

I'll agree that the X-Mark really doesn't compete with the Accu-trigger (assuming that you don't dislike the Accu-trigger), but putting a Timney or Shilen (or other aftermarket trigger) on a 700 is going to do more than just compete with the Accu-trigger. An Accu-trigger doesn't compare to a good aftermarket trigger.

I also have to qualifiy what I said about the X-Mark. It doesn't compete with the Accu-trigger in terms of getting a light pull. Although I found the two X-Mark triggers that I had to be too heavy for precision shooting, they did break pretty cleanly. I don't care for the Accu-triggers at all.

I have a couple Accu-triggers and just got a 300WM in a 700 with the X-Mark trigger. I like both but I am pretty adaptible using different rifles. As stated the Accu-trigger is the better of the two. The X-Mark is better than the old Rem. trigger.

I had a Savage in 308 with a sporter barrel and have a 700 Varmint with X-Mark Pro trigger. The trigger on the 700 is pretty damn good. The Savage however had a problem with fouling quickly, hence the reason I don't have it anymore.

The out of box Accu-trigger on my 12BVSS was better than my X-Mark on my 700 SPS. I still replaced my Accu-trigger with a Sharp Shooter Supply. And a Jewell for the 700.

The Savage however had a problem with fouling quickly, hence the reason I don't have it anymore.

My 12BVSS does the same.

I have shot both & the only diff. to me was the price , I have a Savage .

the trigger on my 12 LRPV only fire 10-20% of the time when set on the lowest setting the other 80% would engage sear half way pulling on middle blade, but since trigger wasn't engaged it would lockup by safety, that's target accutriger so lowest setting is impossible to use.

Jeff, I think you just got lucky with all your savages, because I didn't :uhoh: :scrutiny:

My accutrigger feels exactly like the Rifle Basixs trigger in my R700 LTR. The LTR breaks at 1.5# and the Savage is a bit heavier, not bad at all compared to a $130 aftermarket trigger. My LTR had the aftermarket unit installed either by the factory (which they said they dont use aftermarket) or by a gunshop before the previous owner bought it, as I bought it unfired. I have heard of other first owners getting Rifle Basixs Triggers in their new R700, so who knows what Remington is using.

I had Larry at Excorio Precision Arms in Ohio do a trigger join on my Vtr and it made a huge difference. He only charges $35 for it and polished the dear and new springs. My trigger will go to 2lb s now. My Remingtons will shoot right with my Savages. The old triggers and the older xmarks I could adjust this newer xmarks would not.
