Savage's current iteration of this rifle includes a 20 or 24 inch heavy fluted barrel, Accutrigger, Accustock, and threaded barrel. Most folks seem to be satisfied with overall accuracy, but the proprietary mag has been noted as being flimsy and occasionally ejecting itself from the mag well. Is this an ongoing concern?

The rear of the magazine on my Savage 10FCP-SR would pop downwards when I shot a round.
This would make the next round too low for the bolt to pick it up. Quit aggravating!
I ended up buying a new "bottom metal" and magazines to go with it.

I'm no gunsmith, and had a few small problems installing the bottom metal.
I needed to use a Dremel to enlarge the mounting hole in the stock slightly.
Also, the screws that came with the bottom metal are not the proper length, so a few trips to the hardware store were in order.
I wondered if I should have just bought a different model, but I learned quite a lot with all this, and the system works fine, now.
Good Luck!
