Savage 3-8x33mm Scope ???

I am looking for some info on a scope. I recently acquired a Savage 3-8x33mm scope. I did not know that Savage ever put their name on a scope. The markings on the side are:

SAVAGE-SUWA
JAPAN
MODEL 3833
3-8x33 <SL>

Any info on this scope would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Savage sells some rifle/scope combos. Maybe it is from one of those? If so, it's a good bet that an established scope company makes them and stamps Savage on the tube.
