Anybody ever use Savage customer service? I had a scope issue on a Axis XP package I bought, UP and LEFT turret were max'd from the factory. Sent service request two weeks ago and when I look it says "assigned". I figured out the problem, mis-installed scope rings and sent a follow up a week ago which is "assigned" to a different CS person. Two weeks with NO reply?

I've called them directly and talked with them and got my problem solved in a matter of minutes over the phone and however much time it took the parts to arrive at my house from the factory. I think they sent the parts within a day or two of my request, so my whole problem was solved within a week.

What is the solution to your problem...new rings? Call and talk to them directly rather than waiting on email replies. My problem was solved quickly using that method.

I have not had good experiences and neither has my best friend. Just recently he bought a TRR-SR with a threaded barrel to use as a host for a silencer. The crown of the barrel looked like someone took a hatchet to it. At 50 yards we couldn't consistently hit paper! He sent it back to Savage and it took about a month to get back. Before it was sent out we put a barely noticeable dab of nail polish on the underside of the barrel and took pictures of the crown. Once it returned, we took the thing out to test fire it and we were getting the same results. We compared pictures of the crown and it was exactly the same. Stripped the rifle and the nail polish is still there. They did absolutely nothing to fix it. As far as I know he has been doing battle with them over the phone for the last few weeks about it.

I sent a rifle in over accuracy issues and keyhole problems. I plainly told them it had to be fired several times to make the problem occur. They shot it 5 times and sent it back sayng there was nothing wrong with it. Luckily I found the problem and fixed it myself. But I was pretty disappointed in their service.

I sent a Savage in that I bought second hand, they replaced a few parts and got it back likity split with problem solved...and they refused to charge me

I just remembered something I should have mentioned. A Savage rep offered to pay for my gun to be shipped back to them a second time where they insisted it would be tested correctly. It had to be shot multiple times before the problem came up. But I happened to find the fix for the problem right about that time. So I didn't send it back the second time. I should have remembered that when I posted the first time here in this thread.

Actually my second request explained the problem as I solved it but asked "how did something like this get through QC?" Searching this problem on 'the web' it appears it's somewhat common with many people 'shimming' their bases. The real problem is the ring base clamps are installed upside down, there is a difference! I emailed Ruger once and got an email AND phone call the next day. Kinda makes me wish I would have looked at a Ruger American.

Lost the little ball in the extractor assembly of a Savage 223, called Savage and asked about buying a replacement and the nice lady on the phone said she would send one out, no charge. In the envelope I got were two balls and two of the springs that sprung them.

Sooo I did get an email on Saturday from customer service apologizing for my problems. They said if I thought the scope was bad they'd send me a new one with a return label for the old and for my troubles they'd send me a free magazine. Sounds more then fair. I'm sure the present scope is OK after I corrected the ring issue.
On my return call to them to confirm mailing address I'll ask them to add to their trouble shooting queue the ring problem I found since searching the problem it seems to be a common one.

You are getting cheap optics on their packaged rifles, so don't expect too much from the scope. It's a throw away optic.

I dislike Savage CS...I'll never use them again. You can only get some parts as Savage considers some parts for FFL holders only. Even though you can buy them from online vendors all day long.

I like Savage rifles for the DIY factor, but as far as their CS...it sucks and I won't give them a call when I need something.

You are better off calling Jim at NSS as he probably has every Savage part.

The scope IS pretty poor quality, will only focus poorly at 100yds. Already have a new 4x14x42AO on the shelf for it, waiting on new bases.
