I am a Savage fanboy. I own 4 of their rifles and wouldn't have it any other way. I emailed them about a week and a half ago asking about a factory replacement barrel and stocks. I saw online where they will fit your rifle with a new barrel when its burned out and they offer stocks too. I inquired about them putting a 22-250 barrel on my Axis standard barrel 223rem and a stock for a Mark II. Below is the reply that I received today at 430pm. Note: Today is Saturday when people are usually at home enjoying the weekend. I sent my rifle back because it was having issues extracting and ejecting and also had a short throat. I received an email and phone call from the gunsmith who said they put a new ejector, detent, extractor in the rifle and he inquired if I reloaded? I said yes, and I know it voids the warranty but even some factory rifle chambered hard. He said he shot the rifle with some sort of match ammo and it shoots very well and he would suggest not reaming it. I agreed and he said he would box it back up and send it back. Its customer service like this that keeps my buying their products. I also emailed millennium treestands regarding purchasing an item they don't offer for sale. I got a reply back within 20min stating, she was leaving for the day and everyone was gone, but call her at 10am the next day and she would get the item sent out to me right away.

Hi Phil,
We apologize for not contacting you sooner, we have been overwhelmed with emails and are answering them as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.

We can only replace the barrel with the exact same caliber and configuration that the firearm originally had when it left the factory.

For the wood stock for the Mark II,

Please contact the service department with your serial number to place the order.
The service department will have the part number, price and availability.
The service department is available
Monday thru Friday from 8am to 5pm EST. at 1-800-370-0708 option 5.
thank you,
Debbi

A truly great American company.

I am Savage-ly fanatical as well.

I like your new avatar.
Thanks! I was out woodchuck hunting and they just picked up the hay and tucked those bales into the woodline. I would lay prone atop the bales and shoot them along the RR tracks at 200-250yards. I took that pic shortly after standing on the side of the bale and shooting a big blonde woodchuck at 100yards just behind the rifle.

The rifle is a Savage Axis II 22'' heavy barrel 223rem with a Vortex Crossfire 6-18-44 AO and a Boyds Classic pepper stock.

I have one of those Vortex on my MKII now.
One of the best values in medium magnification scopes out there.

Did Boyd's have nothing that interested you for your MKII?
They do but they are heavy, several on here didn’t think it would get me high enough on the scope and kind of pricy. I asked if they had something similar to the stock on my Mark II GXP. It’s almost like an poplar type wood. I like the way the comb is on the GXP too.

Yes, my Varmint Pro is heavy, capital H.
I love the shape, but it could be made out of a lighter material.

I like the wood on the new B-Twenty- Twos. But, Rotary Mag? Do others like the Ruger mag so much? Or is it the hate of a non-flush mag?
Hopefully they will have a high capacity type banana that will work with them.

My Mark II FV came with a 5 shot flush mag. I hate the 10rd for walking with the rifle slung. I prefer the Savage over the Ruger for accuracy (the two I've shot weren't very accurate) and they don't feel like a pellet rifle. I like the way the Savages feel like full size rifles. I also never preferred trying to stuff 22lr into the rotary mags either.

Agreed. A major reason I never warmed to my Remington Five Ninety Seven.
I works great, just doesn't feel like a firearm. And the trigger is less than passable.
I started hunting at age 13 and was gifted a 12ga pump. I owned that gun and a muzzleloader until I was 18 and went with a newer pump/slug gun, then a few years later an Axis 223rem and then a 45-70. It wasn't until I was probably 26yo that I purchased a 22lr. I almost went with the 597 because I thought Remington was the crem da la crem until I shot a Mark II and fell in love. I ran to Dicks and purchased a Mark II GXP. Trigger sucks on that rifle but it shoots well and fits well. I always thought semi auto 22lr were boring because for some goofy reason I like working the bolt.
