savage lightweight hunter

Has anyone had a chance to get one of these in their hot little hands? I need another firearm like a hole in the head, but it looks pretty good to me from reports and the Savage Arms site. I have a nice old Savage 99 in .300 Savage, complete with Stith mounts and a 2.5K Weaver scope. I am very disappointed that Savage did not bring that rifle back into production. But that is another story. My thought is that the short action lightweight hunter in .308 Winchester would be a great hunting rifle and I could take it on hunting trips (i.e. airline baggage) and not be too devastated if anything happened to it. I am not about to let the same fate befall my 99. And then I can let my son use it when he is old enough to hunt. What say you? Any thoughts or experience with the new Savage lightweight hunter?

I would also love to hear about any personal experience with this rifle. I'm very interested in the .308 as a close to medium range brush gun.
