I dusted off a Savage MK II FSS that's been sitting in my safe for about 4 years and decided to finally get the thing sighted in.
Windage adjustment went OK (if you can call whacking the rear sight with a mallet "adjustment") but I can't get the elevation right. At 25 yards I'm about 5.25" high and that's using CCI CB Longs!
Great, so I've got a 100 yard zero using sub-sonic 29 grain loads, and if I'm running my numbers right, about a 190 yard zero using standard velocity 40 grain .22LR.
Yeah, not what I'm looking for. I'm never going to be taking a shot at anything 200 yards out with a .22.
So... any suggestions? Find a new front sight post that's higher? Live with it? Call Savage?
Edited to Add: Oh, and my rear sight is as low as it goes. I forgot to mention that the first time around.
