Savage Mk in and Marlin XT22

Hi, marlin has upgraded their 22s with the new trigger, better stocks, and bolt action. They have good mirogrooved barrels and better magazines. Savage seems to have a good reputation. What do you think is a better buy? I'm looking a t a heavy barrel varmint. Marlin only has 1 model.
