Hi, I recently bought a Savage mkII FV (heavy barrel) and a Vortex 6-24x50mm AO scope. I tried to install it on the rifle using Weaver very high 1inch rings but the scope still touches the barrel by a few millimeters at most.

My question is, is there a set of rings that can be bought in a lgs or gander mountain type stores which are higher than the "Very high" weaver rings? If so what rings? If not, are risers plus low or normal rings too high above the barrel and will give me more problems then it solves?

---------------------
Please I do not need to be told why I shouldn't be using said scope or how the magnification is too much, the scope is already paid for and in my closet, and I suffer from a very high nearsighted-ness, so a point about "all you need is 3-9x" is moot.

Thanks in advance, Justin.

Burris Extreme Tactical-Extra High should work fine. They are super tough with six hex screws per ring and one large nut to secure to the mount base. At $50 they are less than half the price of other tactical rings.

I usually order mine from Midway USA.
