Hi all,
First post. I've been away from shooting for about 25 years and recently move to an area that has a good coyote population. I also have a Savage Super Sporter bolt action (model 45?) that I inherited a number of years ago. It's chambered for 250-3000. I have never fired this rifle and, knowing it's history, am sure it hasn't been fired in the last 30 years. It has a Weaver K4 scope on it. I'm thinking this would make a good coyote rifle. I also have several boxes of ammo for it that are probably 40+ years old (price stickers $3.39). Other than cleaning it up, is there anything I should do b/4 I take it out and shoot it. What about the ammo? Is it 'too' old? Also I'd like to get a spare magazine for it, but I'm getting nowhere locating one. I found one for this rifle but the fellow says that "300" is stamped on it (300 savage?).
Mine is stamped "250-3000". Would a magazine for a 300 cartrage work for the 250 cartrage?
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.
Paul
