Gentlemen,
I have a 250-3000 Savage Model 99 which was given to me by my father back in 1964. It is stamped Savage Model 99 on the upper left forward side of the receiver. Below the Model 99 stamp and right above where the forearm fits into the receiver is stamped the letter "R". The Serial # is 733xxx. It appears that the "lever boss code" is 13F inside the oval.
Is this a Model 99R? Does anyone have any idea what year this rifle may have been manufactured? Does anyone have any idea what it might be worth? It has Stith Mounts which I believe means that it did not have to be drilled and tapped for scope mounting. I have a Weaver 2 3/4 x 5 power scope that came with it, it's just not mounted on it right now. The barrel length is 24" & the rifling is 1 in 14".
The rifle shoots very well and is pretty darn accurate, especially the 87 grain bullets.
Any information would be appreciated.
