I was just given (free) a Savage Model 550 12ga with 26inch barrels, ventilated rib, nice wood with checkering. Overall condition is 95%+. Approx. production date, late 60's to very early 70's. Can't find any info on this gun. Any idea as to value??

Thanks...

Manufactured between 71 and 73. Blue Book value at 95% is around $195. I don't have to tell you that in todays market it would bring more than that.

Okiecruffler...

Thanks so much for the information. I'm a little disappointed at the value, but it looks great, shoots great and I'm not really going to sell it anyway.

Thanks again...

Well, I would think more than that at present. However, Savage shotguns often get priced low. Check out a Fabarm-made 440's price range. That doesn't make them bad shooters, though. It means they are sleepers on the market.

Blue book never reflects market value. I don't know much about the 550, but blue book on a 311 in 100% condition is $245. I can sell them all day at 85% for $350. I'm not sure where they get those figures for the blue book, but that's what they'll try to use if you were to trade it in.
