I inherited a Savage Model 1899 .250-3000 in the 80's from my grandfather. I have put about 100 rouds throught the gun since I have had it. Unfortunately when I was 25 I thought the stock and forearm needed to be refinished (shame on me I wish i would have left it alone) and I sanded it down and resurfaced and refinished it. What is the approx. value and what can I do besides leave it alone to maintaint the value. From what I have read the .250 seem to be one of the rarer versions of the model 1899. I Won't get rid of it but how should I do to maintain the value of it.
