I bought this 22 rimfire Savage Sporter back about 1970 when I was in college. It was the first 'target rifle' I ever owned. When I bought it the local shop had a gunsmith install the offset mount and an inexpensive scope on it. Always been very accurate and enjoyable to shoot.
I just took it out of the safe for the first time in a long time, and I just noticed that it has the Utica address for the company on the barrel, not the later Mass location. The last patent date is Nov 20, 1917.
The SN is 1220XX.
It would be fun to know when it was made. The only database for Savage that I have found online is for the Savage Models 1895/1899/99.
Does anybody know of a place to look up other Savage model SNs, or does anybody have a good idea of when this one left factory?
