So I was in a weird mood a few months back and over paid for a Springfield 94 single shot 12 gauge. I think I paid 60 bucks or so for a pretty abused gun. Think I just had to spend money that day. Anyway I cleaned up the rust from the barrel, gave it a quick cleaning and shot 1 round through it. After firing the shell would not eject. It would eject a non fired round. I put it away and forgot about it until this week. I've been trapped at home after a back surgery. So today I stick a round in it with out the receiver and it ejects fine. When I put the receiver back on and close it on the barrel the round will not eject unless I beat on the side of the barrel with the wooden end of a big screwdriver.

Any ideas as to what would cause this or how to fix it?

Thanks

Sounds like two problems. The failure to eject after firing can be caused by a dirty, rusty chamber which is very common. To fix this problem, polish the chamber with fine emery cloth wraped around a dowel.
The second problem you described sounds like the ejector is to being tripped when the barrel is opened. The ejector and ejector spring might just need a good cleaning and lube.
