So I picked up my Savage 12fvss(.308) today, great looking gun(aside from the stock). I have a Stevens 200(.308) in a Choate ultimate "cheesy name" sniper stock and I was going to put the new savage in it. Well it turns out that the internal magazine on the 12fvss is fixed in the stock whereas the one on the Stevens is connected to the receiver.

Is there anyway to get this new savage in the choate stock or am I stuck with having to buy a new one? Gonna call choate and savage tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

I don't think there is any "reasonable" way to make it work. Of course anything is possible with a grinder and enough bondo. I went with the LVT stock from Sharpshooter Supply for my 12 FV. It's also available with an adjustable comb if you need one.

It's a little heavy to carry all day, but it sure does shoot.

That's the bad thing about the new changes in Savage. But it makes it easier to build a DBM, which so many people think they need. Stockade makes stocks that fit the new style magazine. Great stocks too.

I had a Savage 10FP .308. It shot 1/2" all day long with my handloads and it's ugly stock. I bought a Choate Ultimate Sniper stock, cleaned it up and installed it, and with the same loads the gun would not shoot under an inch. I say keep the ugly one. YMMV, of course..

I bedded mine into a B&C Duramaxx stock and it still shoots just as well, but looks a lot better. I don't know if they make it for the new centerfeed magazine yet, mine's a couple years old.

Thumbs up for Choate! I called and told them about my problem and they exchanged it for a new control feed stock. They sent me an ultimate varmint stock instead of the sniper but I like it a lot better. Just waiting for the optics coming on Fri or Sat.
