Once again I have a question about the rifle I am working on. I want to know which is overall better , a remington 700 police .308, or the new savage 26inch Law enforcement with accutrigger and choate stock .308.
Which is more accurate

Do a search in the Rifle Forum for Remington Savage. Plenty of threads that already debate Remington vs Savage (vs Winchester vs Tikka vs Sako vs ...).

I believe this question is like a chevy vs. ford thing. Some people have a preference for one or the other, and your preference will likely not be the same as mine. That said, I have no knowledge or experience with the savage, but I have a remington sendero (same as a 308 police but in a different caliber) that is extremely accurate. I do handload for it however. Adjusting the trigger on them is not difficult. Lots of guys here have said good things about the savages though.

I say go for the Savage. But, in this case, both are equally good. I like Savages because they are very accurate (my FP .308 was phenominal with factory stock). Plus, if you wish to change barrels out, you can do that yourself which was a BIG plus for me.

I have a 700P and it shoots all factory ammo I have tried under an inch at 100 yards. Puts reloaded ammo in the .3s at 100. Very good shooting gun, the stock might take a little getting used to, it has a big palm swell but I like that about the gun. I did however, have to get the bolt handle re-attached by they guys at HD rifles. I also got the BO knob installed at the same time. http://www.hdrifle.com/Rem700BoltMod.html I also put a Sako type extractor on it after breaking the "stock" one.

I'm willing to bet that rifle-to-rifle variations within either Rem or Sav models, and definitely model-to-model variations, are greater than overall differences between the two. (Translation, it doesn't matter as long as you don't win the bad luck lottery and get a lemon rifle.)

I have a 700 LTR that is capable of shooting one ragged hole groups of five shots at 100 yards with a low-power (1.75-6x) scope with a heavy duplex reticle. When I shoot it, I usualy blow it up to .5" by pulling one shot. I know this sounds like web BS, but it's the truth. The rifle is far more accurate than I am capable of making it shoot. Having said that, I'll bet the Savage does the same...and probably for less money...
