Hi, new member here.

I am currently looking for a nice varmint rifle in .22-250 to hunt ground hogs at 100-400 yards.

I have pretty much narrowed it down to three rifles: The Remington 700 Varmint Laminated Stock, the CZ 550 Varmint Laminated Stock and the Savage 12 FCV.

Unfortunately the only one of those in stock at the best dealers in my area (Richmond VA: Green Top, Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shops, De Goff's(crap selection there anyway)) is the 700 VLS.

I had for the most part set my mind on the Savage 12 FCV because I know it will be free floated, have an aluminum bedding (accustock) and have the accu-trigger. Not to mention everyone knows Savage are supposed to be super accurate. I want it to have a detachable magazine or floor plate as well. The only similar Savage model I have seen is the Savage 12 FV. The stock on it is atrocious, thin and full of flashing marks, no beaver tail forend...I wouldn't have one. I am hoping the 12 FCV has a better stock considering it is a nicer model, but the only way for me to get one would be to have it ordered, then I am pretty much obligated to buy it. I'd like to have a decent stock with no obvious mold flashing marks and a nice beavertail forend and something I can't wiggle around with my hand.

I saw a display model .22-250 CZ 550 Varmint Kevlar at one location for $900, but I would rather have the cheaper and better looking Laminated Stock.

Any insight into these guns, especially the stock build quality of the Savage 12 FCV is appreciated.
