savage 64f little cheaper and the rifle has been a around for a while so pasrt should be easy to find and marlin 795 i like the last bolt hold open idea but know little about any rifles... what would you buy? any help

p.s. still have one long gun empty slot left in my safe that is bugging me:rolleyes:

I have had both, the 64 has 4 diff types of stocks for it, plus a s.s. version, the 795 , you can get two stocks for. there are also more mags available for the marlin.I don't like the hex head screws for take down on the savage, never have; do you carry hex heads with you? also, not a big fan of the way a savage mag goes in or out of the weapon; kinda like an ak. also, loading a savage mag takes thumbs of steel, really. Now then, what does this mean? the savage is a damn sturdy, fine built weapon, with serious steel all over it. even if take out the bolt assemblies, and compare them, the savage looks huge and thick compared to the marlin, so does the receiver.
I would still choose the marlin, why? serious legendary accuracy, easy use of tools to take down. Everyone in the universe is familiar with the mod 60 action of the 795, and there are a million parts out there for them; plus the 795 doesn't really break down anyway, just depends on how thick and rugged you think a 22 should be. plus I hate the savage charging handle, and you can still find the half moon shape charging handles everywhere, for the mod 60, even if the one you are looking at has the newer and stupid, round bolt head looking charging handle.
