Stopped by my local gun shop Monday on the way home from the office.

UPS had just run & the guys showed me what had come in. How does a 686 P(7 shooter) with a 5 inch heavy barrel ( no full length under lug), adjustable sights, wood Hogues etc. grab you?? Price was $515.

Didn't care for the light pipe front sight , but build quality was good & the heavy barrel is neat. May have to buy myself a small token of self-esteem :D

I'd be interested in seeing the finished product.

They sent us a "Stocking Dealer Notice" with a picture of the gun. I got really excited until my gunsmith pointed out that the one the used for the photo on the flyer was covered in machining marks under the barrel. They obviously start life as standard underlugged guns, but I'm crossing my fingers that the finished product to consumers doesn't have that problem and that the one in the pic was more of a prototype.

It is one of only 1,000

produced in a limited run. Sounds like a fair price for it it if you like it.:)

Was discussed here and turned into a "lock-zit popping pi$$in" contest/discussion

I like the shape of the gun but would prefer blue but this would make for a nice woodswalking gun.

Hey Tamara!
Went back by the shop & checked it out closely. I do believe they have milled the underlug back to make this variation. The machine marks are almoooooosttt polished off. It still feels pretty good in hand , cosmetic imperfection aside

BTW, props to Smith for the factory Ahrend's that seem to be becoming more common. (The last PC627 we sold had them, too...)
