Saw one of these ugly beasts in person today...

I saw one of these Magnum Research SP-21s in the case of a gun shop today and asked to hold it.

This thing is just as ugly in person as it is in pictures. It's HUGE and not all that ergonomic (at least not for me).

That hump in the back looks even bigger and uglier in person. I couldn't get over how big the gun was. It has a double recoil spring system which was kind of interesting. It's a very strange gun.

Has anyone else seen one? Anyone have one or fire one?

What's the deal with the barrel? It almost looks like a blow-back. The top of the chamber seems to be even with the top of slide. Fixed barrel? Yes, almost as ugly as Rosie O.

The only valid reason I have heard is that this sucker is made entirely in israel instead of having the frames made off in europe. The thinking is that they don't want europe to be able to cut off their small arms supply because the EU feels the israelies aren't getting blown up nice and peaceful like.

Why they couldn't make jericho frames there.. beats me. I saw the title of the thread, and it was EXACTLY what I thought it was going to be.
