Hey Guys!

I have a SBE II. I am looking at the pistol grip butt-stock and most importantly a shorter barrell and extended magazine tube...

My friend has the M4 and I really liked the feel and tightness of it... but i'd like to get a shorter barrell and magazine tube extension.

What fits? I love my inertia driven action... absolutely love it. But I'd like something that would work better for Zombies... ahh-hemm... I mean home defense and Turkeys.

Any ideas?? What from the other models will fit the SBEII frame???

Thanks!

Richard

It wont.

I would suggest selling the SBE II before it gets hacked up. Then you can get an M2 and still have some money for ammo.

The SBE II is pretty-much of a dream gun for many, it'd be a shame for you to "bubba" it.

You can probably buy a used Beretta 1201fp for $600 or a used Benelli M1 for ~$700 and modify it into a 'tactical' SG. Aside from maybe changing to an adjustable stock, the Beretta is close to the M4 in operation.

I played with the same ideas then I looked at what it takes to get a shorter barrel and just bought a M4 super 90. Benelli makes it hard to get different length barrels and I have found no other sources for parts like stocks and handguards/light mounts.

Let me clarify... I'm not trying to "Bubba up" my SBE... I want a pistol grip on it, a mag extention, and see if I can get a slightly shorter barrel. I can buy a shorter or longer barrel for my old winchester shotguns, and I want to be able to change out stuff for different functions, not hack the gun apart. It's a great shotgun, I want to make it more functional for me. I have written a lot about how I shoot and why I like the pistol grip, etc...

Unfortunately in your title you reference a homemade SBEII and hence everyones consternation about Bubbaing a perfectectly good gun.

Onto topic now: A search for another barrel for any Benelli is a great undertaking as barrels are supposedly available but I have never seen one. One of the reasons I dont deal with Benellis under any circumstances. If you could find ANY barrel for a SBEII then that would be your best bet at getting a shorter barrel. (You should interpret this as you are going to find a 28" barrel and you are going to have to hack it to get your desired length, once again ruining the value of the barrel in the process) These barrels arent going to be cheap either. Expect to pay around 500 and you may be pleased to find one for 450. That is optimism at its worst though.

Other posters are unfortunately correct, as far as I can tell.

Spare barrels for the M1 and M2 seem to sell for about $400. You may find one cheaper, but generally they are pretty pricey.

Many years ago when I had a SBE I tried to find a shorter barrel for it. I never found one that was as short as I wanted, and due to the "barrel makes up the top of the receiver" design, even when I did find a spare barrel that was 2" shorter it was about $650. Things may have changed, this was about 5 years ago, but it has never been easy to find spare SBE barrels. I was looking for 18", and I think the shortest I found was closer to 24." I guess if money is no object you could get one and cut it down to length.

I ended up selling the SBE, and found a guy who was selling his M1 Tactical and a spare long barrel for cheap.

If you end up going that route, I recommend finding one of the 18" barrel guns and then hunting down a longer spare barrel. This is easier than buying a long barreled gun and trying to find a short spare barrel.
