Hi all,
Ive been looking into the possibility of constructing a SBR from a Henry Mares Leg in 44. All of this be be compliant with NFA regulations of course. However if I were to do this I would likely thread the barrel as well so I would have the option of adding a suppressor.
My question is because the Henry does not have a loading gate, would a suppressor make it impossible to reload with removing? Or would it be possible to find a suppressor for the .44 thin enough to not get in the way of the mag tube?
BTW i realize this issue can be avoided simply by using a mares leg that is equipped with a loading gate, such as the Rossi.

With the .22 Lever Action Henry, they often will bend the loading tube out of the way far enough that it clears the suppressor. Perhaps you could have your gunsmith do something like this? It would prevent the problem, and ought not be too difficult if the mechanism is similar to the .22.

Well i guess this answers my question. Looking at this project now think i would either elect not to put a can on it or to simply use a rossi mares leg. Thanks for the input
