SBR Question

I am interested in "SBR"ing my AR. It is entirely too long. Pic is included. Can you guys recommend the best route. Should I buy a new upper or can I just get a new barrel? I have a QD suppressor so I can just add my extra QD mount to either a new upper or barrel. Also what length is best to use with a suppressor? I would really like the shortest barrel that would function with my current upper. Thanks in advance.

Best route is to have your barrel cut and re-threaded.
Tornado Tech is really good at getting your set up correctly.
As to how short to go, what caliber and use do you have.

I have a 5.56. I have heard of tornado-tech. I will look up there price and turn around time.

A gas-op gun will need the gas port opened up, too. I really doubt $15 extra pays for that. If your upper doesn't have any fancy features or anything, I'd just get a whole new upper. Barrel swaps aren't particularly easy or cheap, either.

Get a dedicated upper. You'll have more flexibility if you can swap between them depending on needs.

As far as length, 10.5 is the shortest that most companies will warranty their suppressors on. 11.5 is my personal preference, essentially for the reasons cited here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=138&t=174764
