Can anyone figure out this issue:

I noticed that my SCCY CPX 2 9mm extracts the brass and causes it to rub on the slide as it extract's. Is this normal? Also, there is no uniformity on extraction, the brass goes everywhere.

I have included pics of the slide, you can see the brass (gold) color or where it rubs on the slide. I also noticed a small bit of color on the tip of the magazine case right on the edge of the metal.:uhoh:

Each piece of brass has a wear mark on the same spot and some have a small dent about 90degrees out.

Anyone have the same issue? Or know what is causing this? The handgun shoots great. I am getting 1.5inch groups at 5-7 yds and 3-5 at 10yds.

That provides more of a clue than before, since the SCCY crew left Kel-Tec to make the SCCY CPX 1/2. They are a lot alike in operation.

thanks,

I'm curious did they infringe on any of Kel-Tek 's patents, or make a totally different gun?

They may be similar but totally different at the same time.

Kel-Tec give a lifetime warranty of the gun, no matter who owns it?

Kel-Tec gives a lifetime warranty to the original buyer. The lifetime warranty is not what I was talking about though. The pistols themselves are very similar.

Not hard to find similarities among most auto pistols.

This is common thru out the industry. Some become more common than others. Try to see how many parts interchange.

As far as if they infringed on any patents? Not hardly.

I own 2 SCCY pistols.

One is the CPX1 TT, the other is the CPX2 CB.

Both scratch the cases, it means nothing, even comes out when tumbling getting ready for reloading.

Both are excellent pistols and are well suited for what they were made for, self defense!

And SCCY will repair/replace for the life of the gun, this goes with the gun, no matter who owns it. Just another plus.

You have your opinion. I am not saying they are bad guns. I do believe they use better finishes for their slides than Kel Tec. You got me curious enough to look at their schematic. Unfortunately I am pretty familiar with a P-11's innards. While Sccy made some minor changes it is the same basic design. They are a Kel Tec clone. Albeit one with a better trigger.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Where the brass ends up when shooing a self defense pistol is of no consequence, as long as its out of the gun.

All these little guns have violent and inconsistent ejection. My M&P Pro puts them in a nice pile about 3' over my right shoulder, my Shield sends them 1-6' back in an arc from about 1' to my left to 10' to my right.

I guess i am just spoiled from shooting my full size all steel STAR 30M. It puts the brass in nice piles at my 3 oclcock with 3' of each other. I went back out yesterday and put another 60 rounds thru the CPX 2. Shoots great, i guess i will just have to get used to the brass everywhere.

I dont plan on using this at the range as i do my full size range guns, so it shouldnt bother me. I am just uptight about picking up my brass.
