Bought a FDE/stainless CPX-2 for $259.xx OTD from SARCO Inc. yesterday.

Well here is my initial feelings.
This gun is a winner.

My wife and I shot 200 rounds today.
A box each of:

Winchester NATO 124gr
Federal 115gr
American Eagle 147gr
Fiocchi 115gr

All FMJ

All went bang.
Zero gun related malfunctions.

There was 4 user related issues but were quickly rectified.

1. My wife's second shot was limp wristed. She quickly fixed her grip.
2. Had one time I thought was a click. After a tap rack bang I realized it was me. I didn't let the trigger fully reset. Was the only time.
3&4. Near the end of the session I inadvertently locked the slide back with my thumb. My grip must have changed. No problems after a readjustment.

Ordering up some jhp to test yet and would like another 100 or 2 of FMJ through it yet to be sure.

My only real complaint is that while it throws brass with force(no annoying forehead impacts thankfully), it does not put them in a consistent spot.

I don't see this being a high volume shooter anyways. Just here and there and carried as a work/backup gun.

I am thoroughly impressed with it. We were shooting 8½x11 sheets of white paper @ 25ft with nary a flyer.

That's good enough for social work. When focusing solely on accuracy I was getting about 2-3" groups.
Rapid fire kept them on the paper almost entirely.

The wife took to the gun like a duck to water. She is getting a pink one tomorrow now lol.
She liked the finger rest bases I actually preferred the flush ones.

I'd say that any issues that were once present in these SCCY's are gone. I can say buy with confidence for a $240 gun.

Also, I did something I never, ever do today with a new gun. Aside from a quick field strip to inspect the barrel I did not clean it. At all.
Of course I am now but all I can say is wow.

Congrats!!!! Love mine, it was an impulse buy for me due to the price I paid for it LNIB.

It was never a gun a considered until I shot it... WOWWWW!!!! Great gun for the money and doesn't handle like a pocket gun.

Hopefully you continue to love yours as much as I have been loving mine

I bought two CPX1's, definitely an impulse buy at $200 each. When I looked them over, all I could see was the appearance of a well constructed firearm, so I said give me two of them.

I have put a good number of full house JHP's (reloads) through them. Never had a single issue, they're extremely accurate. As far as shooting comfort is concerned with full tilt loads, they aren't exactly great, but hey, they weigh so little, and the grip design isn't exactly accommodating of a full house load either. I wear gloves though, so it's not all that bad for me really.

I shot a SCCY 9mm about 6 years back and it was just not enjoyable at all. The trigger reset was so long that I had to focus on letting the trigger reset after each shot. I also had the safety break off during one of the shots and the friend that I was shooting with (who owned the pistol) said that he had already sent it back twice for the same broken safety (like broke off in my hand broke).

Anyway, so after that experience I wrote them off but I've really read nothing but good things about them lately. Have they fixed the awful trigger reset on the newer models? The price certainly makes them tempting and they've always had good customer service.

I bought the CPX 2 simply because that is what the dealer had, after firing and the unneeded safety destroying the web of my hand I called SCCY and they sent me the CPX 1 frame that eliminated the safety and bite. My pistol is a "truck gun" and has been fired 2-300 times by various persons and without a malfunction, good pistol at a good price.

Never got one. I have owned and carried the original since 1996, the Kel Tec P11. It ain't broke, so why replace it? :D

As for trigger resets, spray and prayers probably won't like it. I love the long trigger pull, though, for safety's sake. I ain't clearing houses with it, just defending myself. I don't think Glock leg would improve my gate too much. I like safe triggers on pocket guns and the SCCY and the P11 have very smooth true DA triggers. Glock shooters can whine all they want about the trigger, just hope they have Obama care for that leg. :D

My SCCY is accurate and functions well. But the trigger pull is so heavy, It really throws off my aim. The slide is also hard to rack. I am 72 and have arthritis in my hand.

Mmm, well, it might not be the gun for you. Consider the revolver, no slide to rack. The Ruger LCR has quite the nice trigger, yet SAFE trigger to carry. I carry revolvers a lot, 10 years younger than you and no arthritis.....yet.:uhoh:

I have a VZ.70 also. Its DA pull makes the SCCY feel like a target gun lol.

Well not really but sure seems lighter after a bunch of DA shots with it.

Its a good thing that under stress the odds of gripping a gun less than perfectly and "limp wristing" it are near zero, otherwise the SCCY might not be such a great self-defense gun.

Jimherb, I'm 42 years younger, and already issues. I broke my left wrist in the same spot about a dozen times and the bone is a mess there. Looks like a car exhaust with a massive muffler just above the joint when they take xrays. I already feel the pain working a slide on a pocket gun so I force myself to swap hands or grip the whole slide with my left. Add to that a massive thumb knuckle from another broken bone and I'm pushed away from most semiautos. I can only shoot as few without a lot of pain (glocks bigger than the 42 have me bleeding in 40-50 shots from dragging the frame against my thumb knuckle. The sccy fits this category or I would own a few. Instead I am satisfied with m9, 1911, revolvers and tiny autos. Typically metal frames work me.

Mcgunner, I agree 100% with you, that as a pocket gun, that trigger is just right, no Obummer care necessary here.

As DA AL-ing triggers go, they have a very smooth, yet long, safe pull.

I don't think the SCCY is a pocket gun, unless you're referring to a cargo pocket or you wear Carharrts or Dickies pants all the time.

I was interested in the SCCY CPX mainly because of the price, and I actually did stuff one into the front pocket of my Levis jeans - no holster. I could easily see the entire back of the pistol almost extending above the pocket.

There isn't any official definition of what a pocket pistol is but I can tell you that at 5.7" OAL and thick - the CPX doesn't come out of your normal front jeans pocket easily or quickly, and this isn't even with a holster which would make things even tighter.

Is no one having trouble with the magazines? I bought a cpx 2 the other day and you have to SLAM the mags in to have them latch. I did see some other sites where folks were having the same trouble but didn't see any real cure to the problem.

I tried that once with my PF9, a significantly-slimmer gun, and had precisely the same result.

Here's a hint:

You can easily carry them inside wasteband (with a holster) or in most pants that aren't skin tight with shallow pockets.

I'm not sure if you're saying they can be pocket-carried in most pants that aren't skin tight or what - but my jeans aren't skin tight - they pretty much have standard jeans pockets. Maybe it is not a big deal for some folks to have the gun easily visible in the front pocket, and maybe some folks even pocket carry without a holster.

For anyone contemplating purchasing one of these for pocket-carry, go to a gun store first and see how it goes in and comes out of your pants pockets.

Carry mine in my pocket when I carry it, which is more often than my Glock 23 which I use a paddle holster for. Had it in my right front pocket at church today and most every Sunday. Dockers or wrangler jeans pose no problem. I use a pocket holster and if it does print, it just looks like my wallet in my front pocket.

Exactly. I wore my Dockers to church today, too. :D I carried my little ultralite .38 revolver, though, which is actually a little bigger than the P11. Lots of folks carry .38 revolvers in a front pocket.

I like Wrangler Cargos, big front pockets and I don't have to sit on my wallet, which is fat, not with green, but with plastic. Also, for jeans, carpenter's jeans have nice, big front pockets, almost too big in some cases. I have a pair of Levi's carpenter's jeans that my P11 gets lost in. LOL

Yes, i'm a slave to fashion. :D

I have talked myself out of buying an SCCY on several occasions now. No real reason other than I already have umpteen guns that are similar.

I guess I will hold out for another month and then buy one of the darned things...because I can.

I own 2 SCCY's, both are flawless in their operation. I carry mine in an OWB holster, not a problem at church. as I wear a suit while attending service.

I'm old school and it seems the thing to do.

Heck, I don't even own a suit. Only the elders seem to wear 'em, anyway. :D I have to buy one for my daugher's wedding in August, though, she insists on it. I need some new dress boots, too. Yeah, this is Texas, I don't wear dress shoes. :D

I'll look for suit pants with big pockets, but i do have smaller guns if needed.

I got the opportunity to shoot one last night at the range. A friend had bought one a few weeks ago and this was his first chance to shoot it. He was hitting about 5" low and left with all of his shots. I asked if I could try it and for me it hit where I aimed. It does have a long heavy trigger pull but I shot a DAO revolver for years and the trigger wasn't an issue for me. My friend doesn't shoot revolver much, his carry gun is a Sig and he is used to the lighter and shorter pull on that pistol. He was pretty disgusted with the SCCY but I told him to go to the range a few more times to see if he can work with the gun. I told him that if he decided not to keep it to let me know and I'd make an offer for it. For the price I was quite surprised with the look and feel of the pistol, it will make a great truck gun for me.
