Sccy CPX2 9mm

I looked at one yesterday at the gun shop selling for 269. Felt and looked nice so I put 150 down on it. After reading the 3 reviews (only ones I could find) they all say they are junk. Reading their web site they say over 35,000 made. Does anyone have any experience with them? They can't all be bad. Wanted it to keep in the drawer at home just in case and put a few rounds through it every week. I know this company is new but they must have some sort of quality control. I would rather have a Bersa UC 9 but I have been looking for a few months and no one has or can order them. I would appreciate all comments out there.

I hear the extremes every day since I live near their factory. I hear very few neutral comments, though...

SCCY was founded by a disgruntled Kel-Tec employee. They have been having some growing pains as a new fledling company. I.e. their building originally did not have enough electrical power to energize all their machinery... I am not too sure how their business is doing now in 2010.

Some people love their SCCY pistols and swear by them, some people curse them. Some gun stores wish they could get more SCCY's in stock because they sell like hot-cakes. Some gun stores refuse to sell them because they believe they are junk.

I am left believing that when their pistols work, they work very well. But not all of their pistols work. I am not sure how good their warranty service is to fix the pistols that do not work...

Don't do it!! I can't say this enough. They are complete junk. I know this personally, from first hand experience. I saw one at my local gunstore, and thought it looked like a nice little 9mm with a manual safety. So, to test for functionality, I cleared the pistol, applied the manual safety, pointed the pistol in a safe direction, and pulled the trigger. To my infinite horror, there was a distinct "snap" sound as the hammer fell... WITH THE SAFETY FULLY ENGAGED!!! I repeated the process multiple times, and the gun reliably dry-fired every time, with the safety fully engaged. I would not accept this pistol, even if it was given to me as a gift. Don't go for this gun. Buy a Kel-Tec, buy a Bersa, buy a Taurus, but DO NOT BUY A SCCY!!!

There's been several threads about the gun lately, so I don't feel like going all over it again.

Bottom line, the gun is not only junk, it is dangerous and the company should have to refund every buyer's money.

In about 60 years of being into guns I don't believe I've ever said that about another gun.


Mine has been hanging on a hook, about 4 feet from me, since I got it back from the company after being "repaired". It is too dangerous to shoot.

thanks to you folks. I stopped at my local gun shop and bought a Bersa pro 9 instead. Only paid 60 more bucks for it. I have 2 other Bursa's that are very reliable with not a single problem. Had them for a couple years and fired hundreds of rounds through them. I am a gun addict, I want to own everyone made. Hope you all understand. rj

I checked out the SCCY website and saw that their (one model?) handgun looked just like a P11. Now I know peoples opinion of Kel-Tecs run the gamut around here but I've generally considered the P11 to be good for the price.

So out of curiosity why is the CPX so bad?

Not to defend SCCY, but is there a chance it's just a hammer block safety only and that, even though the hammer fell, it never struck the firing pin?

My Walther p22 is the same way. Safety on and you can pull the trigger till your heart is content(as the hammer drops) and it has never fired. I like the pistol for plinking but the safety function I will never get use to. rj

They're crap. I had a friend who bought one. Accuracy when it actually fed was somewhere between MOBarn and none.

Negative on that, FLAvalanche. The gun store owner was worried enough that he got some snapper caps, and tried them in the gun, and sure enough, it was dry firing.

Oh and their marketing....
if you want to know about that, go to KTOG and search for SKKY/SCCY
basically the VP or some exec was spamming 'these are the best guns ever' etc. didn't go over well.

Not to change the subject, but concerning the Bersa Thunder Pro 9... it's an excellent and vastly underrated pistol in my opinion. I carry it about as much as I carry my "primary" CCW pistol (a Kahr K9, another fine pistol).

I have right around 1500 rounds through the Bersa now and have yet to have my first malfunction. BTW, most holsters made for the G19 will fit the Bersa Pro 9. Typically use a belt slide holder when carrying my Bersa.
