Schnucks is a grocery store in Missouri ends 6 year ban on CCW:), they have historically been very anti-gun:evil:. They openly opposed Proposition B in 1999, but very recently they have changed their policy allowing law abiding citizens with a CCW to carry in there store. They have removed the little signs from there store fronts June 1st 2010. I am quite happy about this and just stumbled onto the information about it yesterday and am quite happy as it saves 2 miles round trip when I have to go to the grocery store. There policy has not changed on people working at the store but then again not alot of places allow one to carry while at work this does not make them PRO-2A but its means that we are making some progress (many times its easier to replace a dead employee than fight a lawsuit), it does allow those of us another option when considering which stores to shop as I try to make it a rule to shop at stores allowing law abiding citizens to exercise their rights. I am happy that some stores especially chain stores are willing to get with the times and realize the benefits that come along with allowing personal freedoms. :neener:

Too bad for them really, I got so used to NOT going to their store that when shopping I basically forget it even exists anymore. Doesn't help that it's pretty out of the mainstream here either.

I am a sales rep for Kraft and was working a store on Manchester just outside St. Louis today. I saw at least two guys wearing those cover vests today. They had to be carrying. I did not ask though because thats just rude. But they had to be.

Man wow6599 at least go to Shop and Save. They have the same stuff and the cost is alot less. :D In your article schnuks said
"Our decision with regard to Proposition B is the result of careful consideration as to what we feel would be best for our customers. We hope you will appreciate that as we certainly don't want to lose customers when we feel we have their best interests at heart."
. What the hell does that mean. They really think that a armed law abiding citizen is going to go crazy and shoot up the store? Thats just senseless!!!

I know....trust me. I'm lazy though; Dierbergs in Wildwood is about 30 seconds from my house. I have to travel down Manchester Rd a bit to get to Shop 'n Save :banghead:

I by no means think that I will rush out and run to shop there but, i noticed that some people even on here are set in there ways or used to shopping at one store or another and are no open to giving things a chance! I know that if i need a gallon of milk and its easier to go to schnucks to grab a gallon of milk than drive the extra mile and a half to the next grocery store then i may shop there. Mabe i wont but i can tell u this When i do make it into there store the next time I will be making it a point to talk to the manager and let him know that as a law abiding citizen I respect the store's ability to get with the times as well as adopt its policys to the needs of the customers & the only reason that i am there shopping that day was because they had removed the NO CARRY Policy & signs and ask him to not only hear my comments but let him know that there are many others in the community that have not been shopping at there espablishments because of this either. After all its not the people that are obeying the law or following the rules that commiting the crimes.

You STATED: I will continue to pay more and shop at Dierberg's.........Schnucks donated $25,000 to oppose Proposition B. They made their decision years ago and so did I.

To me it makes no differance where u or anyone shops but what does matter to me is getting all people out there to realise the good guys arent the ones commiting crimes and that gun owners anrn't to be feared. I know people that before they knew me they had never touched a gun and i am sure there are many people in the community that all they hear about guns is the crimes that are commited witht them. The fact is they are part of our very way of life and there are more things to do with them than run out and commit a crime.

I have done much reading on that group of mayors against illegal guns or some stupid name like it that basically tricked a bunch of PRO- 2A mayors into joining there group or cause.Which is in all reality a anti group! Thus giving the mayors some negative publicity in the eyes of the pro 2A world. Now just because they made a bad uninformed decision in the past dosnt mean that you should ban them for life.but thats a deision for you to make! But if they were willing to take time to concider there policy changes as well as enact them I say at least let them know you are happy with there decision. If everyone walks in there tomorrow to every schnucks they know and let them know this and every time they went into a store mabe the would realize the amount of us there are contributeing to there business and will make the right decision next time somethign comes up!

You must work for Schnucks :scrutiny:
They gave $25,000.00 dollars to try and prevent me from carrying a firearm that protects my family and I........again, they will not ever see a red cent from me (I don't like what they do with their profits).
They were aware that they were losing some business because of their policies and political standings, so they caved in to try and scrape every dollar they can........they won't even stand for their own ideals -

I guess they don't care about my best interest anymore :uhoh:

Dump Schnucks

Schnuck's likes to bill themselves as the "friendliest store in town".:barf:
NOT!!
About 20 years ago, somebody stole my checkbook and cashed a check at Schnuck's. Even with the police report detailing the theft, Schnuck's has banned my checks from their stores ever since. :banghead: So I shop at Aldi's and Shop n Save. They cost less anyhow!:neener:

NO I DONT WORK FOR SCHNUCKS!NOR AM I AFFIALIATED IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM! I am more likely your cousin than trying to even promote them! I dont care where u shop! Ya they supported Prob B with 25,000 bucks and now they have changed there position! so in all likly hood the spent 25 grand to support the very oppisite thing as they are doing! Does Does that make them a hypoctite mabe thats for you to decide! Stick with what ever you wanna do!But i do know this that keeping silent as a gun owner does nothing and saying nothing only enforces the possibility that mabe there arnt that many people that carry anyway so it dont matter what they do!

So, in MO, if a place is posted "No CCW" that makes it against the law to CCW? Like Texas?
No. They can ask you to leave if they figure it out, or have a LEO remove you, but it's not criminal.

You will never convince someone of somethign they dont want to beleive or do if they dont have an open mind and like any store it comes down to the amount of money they are loosing! I am sure that this was a motivation behind the change rather than a change of actual beleifs. But they did change there stance & this is what we as 2A pro rights people are trying to get more business's to do! You may not want to take the 2 minutes it takes to stop in and talk to the manager but thats the same problem we have with voting no one wants to take the time to do it anymore! There are enough gun owners in the usa to be the largest voting block in any race yet we cant band togeher enough to keep our few gun rights we got left. The opinions of others do matter if go on shopping at other stores fine but at least go into a store and give him your opinion or send a letter to the corperate but doing nothign and remaining bias about it after they have changed a rule is jsut plain silly~

If they can see that you're carrying, then you're not concealing the weapon properly. Unless it's against the law for me to be there with my gun, my LCP will be in my pocket. Stores are public places and I'm licensed to carry, I would just ignore the signs. I have to assume that they're just trying to appease the people who are ignorant enough to feel threatened by law abiding citizens who carry.

I think their change of heart basically came about with the economic crunch making people shop for better bargains in their everyday grocery purchases. Here in Festus we have Schnucks, Aldi's, a Walmart supercenter, a Shop-n-save, a Dollar General and a Dollar Tree, and Schnucks is the highest priced of all of them, so they had to be losing business big time and hoped that maybe this would draw some of us back in... not this guy, I have my "shopping loop" all set up, it helps that all these stores EXCEPT for Schnucks are in a straight line, I can start at Aldis, hit Walmart in the same shopping center, down the road a bit to Dollar General, hit Shop-n-save and Big Lot's, then out the back side of the parking lot and a couple corners and I am home.

.......Ding Ding we have a winner. It is about $$$ now. Many of the smaller scale grocery store chains bottom line numbers are not looking good these days. If your business bottom line is suffering a exceedingly large amount, down hill .... would you want to turn off potential customers?

bah, anyplace that is a sunshine "2a friendly" zone won't get my business. I have no idea what Shnuck's offers, I'm just glad there's none of those signs anywhere I go.

....argh, just tried to wipe my eyee and had some hot suace residue from my morning sandwich.....texas pete burns far hotter in the eyes.

Yup, unless a criminal offense, concealed means concealed !
Of course I would never go into the grocery store in my speedo and flipflops...........

I have never, ever seen a sign at any place where I do business that even mentions firearms (I am excepting the courthouses and schools, which don't have signs but do have a policy and procedure). But in this case, especially considering the store's vehement opposition to CCW and their current change in policy - hey, that's progress. It doesn't happen all at once, and every little bit helps. I don't live there, but if I did, I'd be very courteous and tell the management that I applaud their new policy and will resume being a customer there JUST BECAUSE I want to show my personal appreciation. Doesn't need to be long or flowery, but for heaven's sake! Encourage the change!

Schnucks is a pretty good chain, with a lot to offer.

After I got my CCW endorsement an before thay took down the signs, we patronized them primarily for pharmaceuticals.

My concern was not 2A principles or convenience--it was easy to leave the gun in the car--but our neighborhood store was located just a little over 100 yards from an exit on a major interstate known for drug traffic, and there were no parking lots any closer to said exit.

While I happen to know that there were very few problems, I was always concerned about being targeted in the lot be persons looking for cash and/or a new car.

The issue is now passe.
