If the Democrat leadership takes back control of Congress (slim chance but) I guarantee you within the first month they will try to ressurect the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act.

Am I far off?

Am I out in left field?

They've been pushing the same kind of crap even without control of congress. What made you think the demorats gave up on gun control because they were the minority party?

I think Kennedy/Schumer/Pelosi/Feinstein, if they are committee chairs that can influence what bills are brought up for vote, will indeed bring an AWB up for a committee vote.

Will it pass the committee or a floor vote? Those will be open questions.

If those four characters are still in the minority party after the election, they will probably introduce the same AWB bill like they aleady have each year for the past three years.

Lets not forget that Dems are oppertunistic. They never give up on gun control they just wait until the gun lobby becomes comfortable enough to let its guard down and the moment when they can use headlines to deceive the public into believe gun contol is in their best interest. Remeber Slick Willy gearing the AWB to soccor moms "for the children." The same could defintely happen if Dems gain control of congress and/or the Presidency. They will tout these school shooting as reasons for new stricter gun control and I fear many gun owners will be too complacent to even see it happen.

And if a anti-gun Dem becomes President they will be all over the MSM frequently demogouging gun owners as right wing militia members of a domestic terrorist bent. The leftly ADL will have press conferences denouncing gun owners as neo-nazis and a threat to all decent peoples of the world. They will push gun control and 99.999999% of the MSM will write article and editorial one after another screaming for support. Think Bill Clinton. The NRA will become the Taliban group of gun owners. I know I watched this all before and no amount of the DEms saying different will ever convience me otherwise. Maybe there would be a Dem President who would not get pressured to support this nonsense but I doubt even Warner or Richardson would not go along to some extent at the National Leve. I mean Gore was at one time a NRA member and look what DC and Power did to his brain on many levels. :what:

Stupid ideas never die in the "minds" of leftist extremists.

I don't think left-wingers have a monopoly on stupid ideas. The righ-wingers are every bit as wacked, just not in the same areas. I think it would be more accurate to state that extremism leads to irrationality.

Even if the Dems win both houses, they still will not have enough votes to pass any legistlation without the help of many Republicans. Since many Republicans are for weaking our rights I have no doubt they would vote for more gun control if they see it in their favor.

Am I far off?
Only in timing.

Gun control is low on their list of things to do right now ... the first thing they're going to try to do is resurrect Hillary Care and shove socialized medicine down our throats.

They'll get around to taking our guns later (socialized medicine will help them there because once mama government pays our medical bills they will own our bodies).

No the first thing Pelosi said she would do was raise taxes, and repeal the Medicare prescription drug benefits.

Then probably impeach Bush.

:barf:

I have seen so much bad legislation come out under Bush that I am willing to take my chances with a new AWB if the Democrats win.

Remember, even if the Democrats pass a new AWB, Bush would still have to sign it into law. Some of you guys have been saying for 6 years that Bush would never do that, despite what he has said.

So we have nothing to worry about right?

Right

But the fact that Pelosi wants to raise my taxes infuriates me.

Lar, I can only wish the Democrats wanted to get rid of those drug benefits. It would almost be worth the raised taxes to get rid of them. However, what I think Pelosi actually wants, is even more drug benefits for people. Not less.

Should the Dems retake the House, that's a two year phenomenon, which is survivable. Should the RINOs go unchallenged, that's never-ending. Anybody from Mark Foley to Lincoln Chafee can call himself a Republican. There is no direct connection between the Republican party and Conservative politics. Let the Republicans take their punishment for voting like Dems.

Of course, the Republicans are fully capable of interpreting a loss as a sign they should move Left.

Agreed. If they do take the house, there's little chance that their legislation will become law. As long as the Republicans hold the Senate, few of the Dems bills will reach the President. And then Bush can simply veto the bill. There's no way they will have the votes to override his veto.

I'm much more concerned about '08.:what:
