Love 629's and have some. Decided it would be neat to play with a scoped
revolver. I could go for a package deal of a Performance Center with a scope,
or scope one of the classics I have. What would be the advantages of a PC
scoped gun over say a classic 629 6 inch scoped?

I just unscoped my 629 cl dx, and I enjoy shooting it so much more. It was too tough to get on target quickly, whether hunting or target shooting, with the eye relief issues, etc. I say no thanks!

Get a Leupold or High Quality Red Dot or Bushnell scope, they have the best eye relief. And are all great for hunting/ target shooting. As far as Which Gun? Id go Ruger or Freedom Arms if you hand load because you can load it up. If you dont, Id probably go with the 629 classic, just because in my opinion you dont get that much more out of a PC especially for the price, unless its the 500 or 460 models, then theyre worth it. Remember if you dont get the PC model youll have to get a base and rings, whereas the PC comes with a base but no rings.

Performance Center is good stuff. I don't care for scopes on handguns though. The newer guns also measure out tighter than the old ones, no matter what the peanut gallery says. For the same price, for a shooter not a collector, I'll pick the newer gun every time.

Have two ILS guns, no failures, no hangups never even touched the keys. 100% reliable. :neener:
