Scope a Mosin Nagant

The scope is a KonusPro, the mount is from I think Overstock.com (it's a simple replacement for the rear sight), the recoil pad was a gift from my wife for Christmas -- I think CheaperThanDirt. Shell holder was a $10 Uncle Mike's job, and the bipod was a Wal-Mart special (I had to buy the swivel mount and drill the stock for it).

here is mine. looks like me and mcdonl shop at the same store

Puh-leaze! Enough with the "keep it original, Bubbafying is a sin" talk already. Jeesh...
I have two M-44's. One is original, one is drilled, tapped and scope mounted. :what:
Who's business is it?:scrutiny:
Not a damn soul.
My rifles, my decision as to what I do with them.:p
Same goes for every person who owns a M-N or any firearm. You wanna keep it original, fine. You wanna "Bubba" it, fine.
It's your property, do with it as you please.

(And, they all lived happily ever after...:) )

Mike U. is hitting nails on heads. Pound Mike pound. he11 I might put fins on the backs of 6 MN's and stick that spike on them, paint 3 red and 3 blue, and play Mosan nagant lawn darts, lol

They're too damn cheap to be of significant historical value. I passed on a pristine 1917 Remington hex Mosin-Nagant because I wasn't sure I could get the $250 back out of it.

SVT-40 Sniper? Keep it original. Garand? Eh, maybe. Mosin? Slice & dice.

Ok.... I will tell what I have learned about that gun...

But first. Mike U... I agree. Once I own a gun, I can do what ever the hell I want with it. As it were, I bought that gun in that condition. And, I want to buy another so I can put the original stock, and rear sight on this particular gun. I will then put the ATI stock, scope and a bi-pod on the replacement.

I want to do this becaust the MN in the picture above was one from the French arsenal, and one of the first made. So, *MY* choice is to put this gun back to as close to original as possible, and to get a shorter, more bubbafied gun for bringing in the woods.

I also just bought a Nagant revolver, 'cause they were only $79!

no sh1t? where did you get a nagnt pistol? you know thats one of the only revolvers you can put a silencer on. the chamber closes up over the barrel. I WANT ONE.

Helz.... www.aimsurplus.com - good folks... they are two weeks behind, but it give you extra time to research the ammo....

Here is what I have learned:

The gun, with original cylinder shoots the 7.62 NAGANT... designed for this... is stated to shoot the .32 S&W Long, and the .32 H&R although I have heard more negatives about the accuracy of the .32 H&R - Also, because it is not a "perfect" fit, more then normal cleaning is required. But, .32 S&W Long is a LOT cheaper then the 7.62 NAGANT rounds.

Also, for the same price as the gun, you can get a .32 ACP cylinder. I will not do that, as I can buy a .32 ACP revolver to shoot that little round for around $200, so why take a piece of history and change it... just my opinion... and I would rather buy ammo then parts!

helz, that is the new scope I have on it. The Konus, I bought used, and the adjustments were pretty chewed up for some reason. After they froze, I bought an AIM scope from (I think) CheaperThanDirt. it's got a good 10-12" of relief, and is perfect for a M-N scout mount.
