I’ve shot about 100 H&N pellets through my new (and first springer, HW 50s) and have gotten good results. It is also clear that my 67 year old eyes need help if my group sizes are to shrink. That means a scope. Funds are limited so I’d like to keep it under $200 plus mount. My shooting will mostly be indoor up to 50 feet so I’m thinking a mildot is not necessary. What are my choices? How long do you guess a $200 scope will last?

Leupold scopes are rated for airgun use. I’d get their rimfire scope. I think it’s 2-7x33. Though I don’t know the price right off hand.

A used m8 off eBay would be a nice addition to any airgun.

You will need an air gun rated scope that has AO, adjustable objective, either by turning the bell or a side knob. Most rifle scopes with a fixed parallax are set at 100 yards. A 22 rimfire scope I think is set at 50 yards. But for air rifles we are usually shooting at distances of 10 to 50 yards, more like a pistol scope would be set for if fixed. I would not spend a lot of money on a scope for a spring rifle, especially a magnum springer, because it is going to beat the snot out of it. You may need to use four scope rings if seperate and make sure one of them has a stop screw that drops into the notch or hole in the receiver.

Not to be a pessimist but my experience with break barrel rifles is that the barrel does not return exactly to the same place each cycle and the scope is on the spring tube so accuracy beyond 20 yards or so is questionable. I would rather take the wallop from my Marlin .45-70 than have my face slapped by a spring gun. Obvious, that I am not a spring gun fan.

Something like this maybe:
