I've searched for a while now and could not find the answer to my question. I'm ordering a NEW Savage 10fp..... when I look up scope bases it wants to know if the receiver is flat or round. What base do I need?

Thanks!

Here is your answer courtesy of Fred Moreo at Sharpshooter Supply....

Receiver Changes

For 2003, Savage introduced their new ACCU-TRIGGER models. Besides the trigger change, the receiver now has a round top in the rear scope base area. It will utilize the same base in the rear as in the front. The Weaver #46 base will fit both ends as well as the #402 extension base if you have a need for mounting extremely long or short tube scopes.

the reciever itself is round on the newer ones, flat-top on most of the older ones (non-accutrigger), If you have the 10fp the best base for the best price is the one from savage direct the farell 1 peice base, they suggest you bed the base with epoxy to the reciever for the best accuracy. The 1 peice base allegedly reduced flex in the reciever around the cutout. If nothing else this base fit perfectly, screwsdown tight, has a good finish on it and is high quality http://www.savagearms.com/cs_scope.htm
