Scope for 6.5 Grendel - LaRue upper 18" barrel?

I'm out on 50mm objectives. they're bulky and heavy, and don't add much optically compared to an equal quality 40mm range objective. I'm running a 4-16x weaver grand slam on my grendel, and I like the magnification range a lot. I have a simple duplex on my scope, and I wish it had a couple hold overs instead of just simple crosshairs. I don't mean a crazy long range christmas tree reticle, but a couple extra marks would be nice.

be sure to use a coupon code if you order at opticsplanet.

I use a 3-15x50 Tract Scope on my Grendel bolt action. I shoot paper and hunt, so my uses are similar. For targets I prefer greater magnification, but that’s me. The 3i is a good scope and if you like the higher end magnification it should be fine.

If the 50s cheaper than the 40....which happens sometimes, I'd go with the 50.
otherwise I'm with the other guys, no advantage for me to off set the weight.

I'd also prefer more top end, but again that's personal preferences.

All that said, the scopes a good option, and would serve you well.

I've got the 3.5-10x40 on an M7 in .223 and it's a great little scope.

Mine's got the CDS dial and I have no issues staying on an 8" plate with it out to 400yds. Honestly for most uses the 50mm is just going to add some weight and make you mount it higher. Not the best pic, but the 3.5-10x40 on an M7 with Talley Low rings:

Mostly target shooting, IF at "distance" I'd look for something with exposed turrets and a reticle pattern; MIL or MOA.

What do you guys think of this Leupold scope for this rifle? Mainly use for target shooting and possibly a hunt or two. Thanks.

if you do decide to buy this scope, or any leupold, I ordered a couple leupold scopes from mysmokinguns earlier this year. Not only were they the cheapest I could find, as of this spring, they were not charging sales tax. I asked for a price quote for the linked scope, and it came back at $430
