Please recommend a scope for my DPMS LR-308, ar10. Im considering a medium range variable powered scope. price range is $1000. Also, what mount?

I have the 6-24 SII and it is amazing, given your larger budget I would reccomend the SIII and a good mount.
Also Bushnell Elites are pretty good and I was considering a 4200 when I purchased my Sightron.

Obviously the usual suspects are GTG as well; Nightforce, Valdada, Leupold etc..

Here is my Sightron SII 6-24 MD mounted on my DPMS MK12 LR308

I use the ss 3-9 on my ar. This is a perfect scope for my type of shooting, and hits at 800 are no problem. For 600 dollars you get ffp, mildot, and mil adjustments. The scope is very simple to use, and so far has tracked true. I can highly recommend it.

Sorry about the bacon in the background, but it's the only picture I have of the ss 3-9.

another one you might try is the bushnell 4200 3-12. This scope is also ffp, mildot, and mil adjusted. With the added benefit of parallax adjustment, and a lit reticle.

They haven't been released yet, but this is another contender in the sub 1k market. I have been very impressed with Vortex as a company, and believe they offer one of the best bangs of the buck.http://www.vortextactical.com/produ...-16x50-ffp-riflescope-with-ebr-1-mrad-reticle. This PST offers all the same as the above scopes, but you get a 1/2 mil reticle and zero stop. Not bad for less than a grand.

I try not to get caught up in the "more magnification is better" line of thinking, especially on an ar10 type rifle. All you need to be able to hit the target is clearly identifying it.

Another vote for the SS line of scopes from SWFA they are great people to deal with. I've had one on my .50 for years with no issues. No issues at all, and now with the HD line I sure wouldn't hesitate to get another. I've got it bolted down with a set of badger rings and that would get you in under $1000 pretty easily. ~Wingnut13

Just my $.02: I just put a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33mm on my RRA LAR-8, using the Burris PEPR mount. Owned by Leupold, lifetime warranty, and made in USA. Good price too.

Not the typical choice for a an AR in .308, but it was a good comprimise between the amount of weight I wanted to put on, and desired magnification. This is a deer rifle for me, not a precision tactical weapon. So, I guess the amount of glass you put on it, depends on the intended purpose.
