I have a DPMS Oracle that I am wanting to put a scope on. Currently it has a PA Micro Red Dot but I am wanting something with some magnification for a little longer range shooting. This gun is mainly used for range fun out to 200 yds but has also been filling my HD role.

I was pretty much set on the Millett 1-4 x 24 DMS scope but have been having second thoughts. I have no experience with Millet Scopes or with illuminated scopes at all.

I also came across a Weaver Classic V 1-3x20 that peaked my interest.

What are your opinions? $200 - $250 was really my max price range.

Personally, I put a Leupold Vari-X-I, 3-9X40mm, in matte finish on a Leupold single block see-through handle mount that sits tightly in the top U-shape curve of the handle on my Bushmaster (14.5" barrel with Izzy supressor). I have Leupold Quick Release Rings that snug down nicely in a matter of seconds! I am not real impressed with my groups from a bench, though as I recal getting about 1.75" groups at 100 yards. Since I don't think I will be shooting any deer or black bear much further than that, I suppose I am set for bear, as they say!

Thanks for the replies. That Burris is starting to seem like the way to go.

BTW, my AR is a flattop with no sights.

Read my thread about leupolds new vx-r series. Its very similar to leupolds mark 4 scopes but at half the price. And illuminated.got my 3x9 for $599

I put a burris 2-7x28 on mine. works fine, but if I had it to do over again, I'd see if those 2-7 vortex vipers are still on clearance.....

in the carbines I have many burris fulfield and timberline.
I like the timberline 2-7 as it gives the same foot print of a 1-4 but with a very nice picture and drop comp.
Can shoot x2 with both eyes open and then dial x7 all the way to 500 yards the drop is dead on with standard GI ball.

Ive got a Viper PST 1-4x24 in a Bobro mount on my AR. I love it. Ive also played around with it a bit on my SR-25. For any quick target acquisition shooting under 200 yards, it is preferred over my Leupy 3.5-9 mk4. The PST is a great scope and not bad on price either.
