I inherited a nice 550-1 from my FIL and I’d like to put an inexpensive but useful scope on it for plinking out to 100 yards.
Is there such a scope?
The rifle has grooves on the receiver for scope mounting so I assume it would use Weaver .22 tip off rings.
I’m new to this so all info is good!

I believe the 550 had shallow sighting grooves up top the won’t fit Tip Off rings. Check and see if there are holes to the side of the receiver for a Weaver base/mount combo.

Here's a pic of my Rem 550-1 with scope attached. It is an inexpensive 3 X 9 that I got off of eBay. Frankly, a simple 4 power would be just fine since I rarely shoot beyond 50 yards. The scope rings were also inexpensive from WalMart and were basic 22 rimfire rings.

A couple of sample targets shot today with the Rem 550-1 pictured in my post # 3. This rifle tends to like standard velocity over high velocity ammo. So, that’s what gets shot out of this old girl.

A fun day, for sure…
