Hey all

Today I purchased a Nikon P-series scope mount (2 separate mounts) for a Nikon 223 scope I also purchased

My problem is the mounts will not slide onto the rail as they should (yes it is the correct picatinny mount for a spec rail)
Upon observation, both mounts appear crimped
I assume it is due to factory over tightening of the screws?? Just my assumption

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks everybody

Pictures would help tremendously. Those mounts usually lever over rather than slide on too.

Make sure the bolts are out of the bases. You may have to take something like a large screw driver and put it in the gap and twist to slightly spread the mount. This is common on many Weaver style mounts. Just spread them enough to slide onto the end. They don't go over the top of the base.

When you get them on, insert and start the screw. Slide the base forward as much as possible in the slot to make sure the screw bolt is tight against the muzzle side of the slot. Recoil will make the mount want to move forward.

If they are so bent you cannot easily spread them in this manner, they are defective.

With mine when I removed the screws they slid right on. If after removing the screws they are too tight, they were tightened too much while not on a rail. I have the one piece and the two piece, and they both slide right on and off a rail. So do my YHM risers that mount the same way.
