I would appreciate any feedback about a good scope mount for an AR with a carry handle which would still allow use of the standard sights. This is my first AR and after doing some researach I probably should have got a flatop (maybe).

they make a little rail that goes in the groove of the handle and allows the use of the opens.

i actually had a colt with the flat top, but found it more comfortable for me just to use the handle mounted rail.

when i bought more ar15's i just went with the a2 models since thats the way i like to scope them anyway.

they are really inexpensive. i think this one was about 15 bux.

and it holds zero great. i take the scope on and off the rail every time i shoot and its always on.

they are good if your just target shooting or maybe varmint hunting.

for just plinking i just leave the rail on and use the irons.

Nice FlyinBryan...picked up a better rail for around 15 bux this year at a gun show, you can see through to the iron sights, my really old one couldn't, it was solid. But can't recall the brand it was.

thanks 61.

i think mine is a b-square, but i could be wrong, lol, ive had it for quite a while now.

The problem with the carrying handle mounted scopes is that they are really really high. I mean look at that scope in post #3 unless you have a giant head there is no way you are getting a decent cheek weld.

did you see the groups in post 3?

imagine what that guy could do with a properly setup rifle, lol.

he must be a stud

That might be fine from a bench but when shooting prone having a scope that high may get a bit uncomfortable.

This is a cheap UTG I got for around $25, it also came with 1" rings but I didn't use those. I originally ordered a Model 1 co-witness mount but it only had rails over the handguard and this scope was too long for it so I exchanged it.

For $25 it has really held up well without shifting and you can still use the irons.
