i've just picked up my cousin's cetme for cheap. he bought the gun last year and we could not get a zero at 100 yards because the scope mount keeps sliding forward. $100+ in ammo later he finds out that the scope mount was bent from the previous owner. he was so mad he wanted to sell it lol. long story short it ended up in my hands.

the bad mount is like the one in the link below. it is held together by one screw knob in the middle. i have a gsg5 claw mount which is held by two screw. looks more reliable. i was able to put on the cetme but the rail is too long and hits the rear sight. what kind of claw mounts would you use? is this hk style (claw mount) of mounting a scope even reliable?

I used to have a B-Square mount like the one in the linked photo installed on a CETME. Bought the mount used, so there weren't any instructions with it. Looking things over, I figured that the two screws going straight up and down through the top of the mount looked like the ends were shaped so one of 'em was meant to slightly enter the hole just forward of the rear sight and anchor the mount from moving fore and aft. In addition, that those two screws worked together to push down against the top of the receiver, taking up slack and pulling the mount up tight against the grooves it grabbed into. Might or might not have been the way the mount was supposed to go on, but it did not slide around that way and I didn't get bad accuracy out of the rig.

I had a scope mounted on my HK 91 My suggestion id spend the money on night sights.
This stock and all the rest of the weapon was designed for iron sights. If you can get a quick sccope picture with it I would be amazed. I found snap shooting with the scope impossible.
I got ticked off and sold mine for a Springfield Armory and $1000 in cash back in 1999.
As nice as it was to set up and bench shoot with I had no use for it. i don't mmiss this heavy beast at all.
My present .308 is a Savage heavy bbl. taticle 4x12. This one gets used.
Good luck with your venture I hope things work out, I had a B squqre mount it did not shift was too high.

yes the one i have is the b square and after inspecting it the sliding issue was because the rear screw was not anchored in the rear hole just in front of the rear sight. aligning the rear sight to front sight the mount's claw is pretty bent. perhaps all these factors led to the very bad accuracy. i'm going to try to bend it back and go from there.
