scope mount mini 14

I have a customer that wants to put a scope on his mini 14 it is a post 87 mini according to the SN.

I found a weaver base that replaces the rear sight does anyone have any reviews of this mount?

I found this review on midway, hope it helps:

Mount replaces rear sight, so you lose that. But mine is accurate and the zero stays put and solid. Much superior to the B-Square mount of which I have two. Scope is about as low as you can go, which I am looking for. You do need to turn the scope 90 degrees so turrets are not hit by brass. Most short red dots will not work since the cutout area cannot support the second clamp in the middle.

if the mini has the scallops cut into the top of the receiver, he can just order factory ruger rings and not even use the rail. dependeing on what optic he wants to mount. i would try this first before i removed my reer sight.
