scope mounting questions

I have cva wolf muzzel loader and I'm mounting a 3x9x40 scope on it. I bought weaver rails and rings and every thing was going together fine until I put the scope in the rings. When everything is put together, the bell of the scope barley touches the barrel. it looks like everything sits ok . Is this alright, or should there be daylight between the scope and barrel?

"...barley(sic) touches the barrel..." If the scope touches the barrel you need higher rings. Take the rings back to where you bought them and get the next higher set. Relax. It's not the end of the world. Should be a straight exchange.

Sunray offers excellent advice. Another note: Do NOT let anyone talk you into see-thru rings. These create as many problems as they solve. Keep your scope as low as possible without contacting the barrel or receiver.
