So I'm looking for a scope with an amber chevron or triangle reticle for my AR-15 (14.5" mid-length for HD/general purpose)... But here's the kicker: I can't afford to spend anywhere near the $1k+ for a Trijicon scope, and I'd prefer a 1x or low magnification fixed power scope, with either a built in or separate QD mount.

While I appreciate the fact that you get what you pay for, especially where optics are concerned, I see no need to spend more than even 25% the value of the rifle on the optic. I'd like to see what my options are for under $200.

The bushnell "ACOG Clone" is an awesome deal for a budget scope. Not sure if you can get it in the chevron though. It is one I would look into if you like the ACOG styling.

Thanks. I'll look into that one, but really the external styling is irrelevant to me. I prefer the reticle because it's easier for me to see and be accurate with. I have difficulties with standard scope reticles due to degenerating eyesight. Illuminated reticle scopes are much easier to use, but still not as accurate for me as a triangular shaped reticle for some reason. I'd also be amenable to options that utilize a "3 dots in a triangle" reticle. As far as external styling and function, an open or enclosed red dot, or a 4x or lower power fixed or variable scope would all be acceptable. I don't need much magnification, but if I do have magnification, I definitely don't want anything over 4x.

Thanks for the help.

I'm not looking for an acog, or necessarily an acog style scope (I've been following the thread you linked. It has some valuable info, but not what I'm looking for). I'm also not looking to spend over $200. The Nikon Monarch series scopes start at $300+

The reticle is the primary consideration in my search. I've not found one with a suitable reticle other than the acog, but I've also not had much experience with the myriad scopes and models out there.

I'm sorry my original and followup posts weren't clear enough. I really try to be detailed when I ask questions like these, but sometimes I'm not very good at it.
