Scope ring question

[Ruger GP100 fan]

I have a 22-250 Ruger M77 M11 with a 1" Weaver V16 scope. I cannot get the ring screws tight enough to hold. I want to replace the rings with something of higher quality. What would you recommend for under $100?

I have a Ruger 77 with rings too loose to hold a scope.
I lined the rings with pieces of cloth friction tape. Works perfectly, with no problems, for, maybe, forever.

+1 on this. Ruger's proprietary mounting system should fit your scope. If not can you return it? You will always be questioning your mounting system using tape or another material in your mounting system.

Get a good scope and mounting system for your 22-250 and perform load development etc.

Leupold also makes Ringmount rings specifically for the M77. They work just like the factory rings to eliminate an extra base.

Like those you mentioned, they're a little less expensive than the Ruger factory rings, but not by a lot. Kind of depends if having "factory" or OEM is a big deal to you.

You can carefully file the joints on the rings so more clamping force is available. If the joints are metal to metal, there is no more clamping force available.
Also, powdered rosin is a cleaner alternative to tape if you go that direction.

I put electrical tape around the scope tube. Never had a scope slip or a marred tube.

You can also use thin strips of aluminum to shim all the way around, either from aluminum stock or from a Coca-Cola can
