I sure like that set up.

Do you sight it with the dot on the white line, or is that for just helping to find the dot more quickly?

I've only shot it with the red dot once. I don't remember if I used the white line or not. I think I just centered the red dot over the target.

Heres my current red dot hunter, 44 Dan Wesson 8" barrel with a burris 135 speed dot and its little brother 357 that use to hunt with a dot and 8" barrel too.

I have bought 3 revolvers with scopes. Still have all three guns, none wearing scopes. The only thing optics are good for on a handgun is to help you punch paper and miss meat. I say this for several reasons out of my experience. Deer move primarily in low light (dusk and dawn) so a scope will be hard to find crosshairs in low light conditions, so you need illuminated reticle with which you will undoubtedly leave on and drain the battery or not have on when you need it. Close range shots can be made easily without a scope, and with a .357 revolver your range is pretty limited to begin with so your likely not approaching scope range with your normal shot. Lastly, a scope will most likely show exactly how much wobble is in your hold and make you do 2 things, second guess your shot or muscle through it. Both are good ways to make a bad shot rather than to let it come naturally.

I scoped one of my 357s and have lots of fun and a challenge trying to hit steel plates at 100 yds. I use a 2x scope.

I try not to let "need" factor into my decisions related to recreation.
