Scoping a lever rifle

My biggest concern is figuring out how to mount it. I certainly don’t want to drill into the barrel.

I wonder too. Not enough meat anywhere to mount it. I can't use Grizzly Customs either because they have a 1 year backlog.

I’ve seen photos of scout scope bases brazed or silver soldered directly to the barrel. This wouldn’t be a full rail, just two mount “pedestals” that accept scope rings.

Still a gunsmith job and would require a refinish of the barrel.

1982 BLR, 308 win. It has a Redfield widefield on at present but as soon as the weaver pic rail gets here it'll have a nikko stirling 1x4 BoarEater with IR fastened on top.
Win 94 30/30 had a vortex red dot, since sold and I've gone back to the williams peep, rossi 92 has a marble bullseye rear and truglo front on it now but those two are short range guns only

Yeah, seems kinda silly to be such a stickler for "period correct" when you're driving your Honda Accord to the range, eating Little Debbies and playing on your $900 cell phone, while wearing your Crocs and packing an extra 100lbs around your middle.
I don't drive in an accord................

😁
Also changed the scope on my 99 again, not as amusingly offensive, but much more practical i think.

I need ideas folks. You got me to pull out an old Marlin 1894c I never shoot anymore, because my eyes can't handle the little Skinner peep sight anymore. It has a takedown treatment from Lee Hadaway.

I like the idea of getting a low profile Burris or classic Weaver K2.5 scope. Because of the way it screws on, I think my choices are limited. Perhaps a scout scope mount ahead of the insert?

I welcome a competent gunsmith recommendation.

That is a very handsome little carbine ! Leopold makes a 1 x 4 "pig-plex" that weighs less then 10 ounces , and a quick release scope bases that would keep that a light , tidy package . It would break down into three pieces that could be stowed away pretty easily . All of it could be fitted into a saxophone type case , and you would easily be the coolest guy in town !!

ordered a hi lux 2.5 vintage scope to help my marlin look like a period correct lever gun....supposed to be similar to a 2.5 lyman alaskan scope.
