I gave my son my old HBAR pre ban and the lightweight old CARSP1 and he wanted to scope the HBAR so he found this mount to be low enough with a larger eye box Zeiss Conquest 3-9 to work nicely with no riser . Has a see thru iron sight hole too !

if the scope has a large lens the iron sight hole is covered, the mount/ring combo is as low as it gets tho

My first personal AR was a Bushmaster Shorty with the A1 upper. It served as my patrol rifle for many years. I was pretty comfortable with the sighting system due to my experience with the M16. Scoping the A1 never was a consideration for me. I could punch out 2" groups with the irons. It's now my home defense carbine. I have since acquired a few more. One has a Millet 1x4 for my feeble attempts at 3 gun. Another with a 3x12 scope for more precision work. A couple of builds in progress, not sure what they'll turn out to be. All are flattops. My advice on ARs, set um up to suit yourself. Work with what you have. I stick with irons on A1 uppers, and save the scopes for the flattops.

Before the "NYS Safe-Act" was law, I owned a Colt Sporter Lightweight, AKA AR-15 to you free people out there. I mounted an original Colt (made in Japan) 3X, BDC, heavy duplex, scope directly to the handle. I loved that combo for plinking and fast target acquisition. Be thankful if you can still own such a system, and don't think for a moment, you can't lose that right. NRA life member, Scope member, and Trump supporter.

I have a Colt 4X scope with mounting bracket for carry handle I'd be pleased to sell you. You'd need to drill (1) hole in your receiver's handle to accept the scope bracket bolt. Please contact me if you're interested.
